First, we’ll visit a heavenly vineyard in the Skadar Lake valley. These lands are ideal for winemaking, boasting a mild Mediterranean climate and abundant sunny days. The land isn’t overly expensive, which encourages the growth of many family wineries. Varieties like Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Krstač, and, of course, Montenegro’s pride – Vranac grapes – thrive here. It’s no surprise that the valley’s plantations are the main source of grapes for most wineries.

• Wine Tour: Family Winery in Rijeka Crnojevića

Our Montenegro wine tour will first introduce you to the Bogoeveci family. For generations, they’ve cultivated various grape varieties. Despite the formal setting, there’s always room for fun here. The tasting itself is a true wine performance. The Bogoeveci winery is renowned throughout Montenegro for its elite varieties. Unlike most local winemakers, their wines cannot be bought in stores. You can only taste them in high-end restaurants or directly from the producer. Additionally, the Bogoevecis make a gourmet black prosciutto, whose recipe is a closely guarded secret. You’ll get to try it during the wine tasting!

• Wine Tour: Family Winery in Virpazar

At this stage of your Montenegro wine tour, you’ll visit Montenegro’s oldest winery. The owner, no less, is the president of Montenegro’s winemakers’ association. His winery is located in the village of Gluhi Do (Deaf Valley) near Skadar Lake. Despite his status, Ilija is famous for his hospitality. He always conducts the production tour himself, speaking with such passion about winemaking that no one doubts his dedication. Wine tastings take place on a summer terrace overlooking a picturesque green valley. Ilija always participates in the tasting, meticulously describing each variety. In fact, it feels more like a heartfelt gathering where he loves to share captivating stories. And a great conversation is the best way to set the mood for the whole day! You’ll have no doubt that Klišić winery produces the best homemade wine in Montenegro!

• Wine Tour: Lipovac Winery

A Montenegro wine tour involves visiting not only family wineries but also getting acquainted with industrial wine production. Finally, we’ll visit a truly unique winery. In addition to traditional winemaking technology in French oak barrels, they also use amphorae and qvevri. No other winery in Montenegro boasts such a diverse wine list. The tasting is a true paradise for wine aesthetes! Besides red and white wines, the winery recently started producing rosé sparkling wine. This wine is made in strict accordance with the best champagne production technologies. Our trip to this winery includes a tour of the vineyards and production facilities.
