  • Bosnia and Herzegovina: Trebinje and Tvrdoš Monastery

Trebinje is a small provincial town in a very picturesque location. A beautiful promenade along the Trebišnjica River, an ancient arched bridge, an old town with fortress walls, green alleys, and majestic plane trees – in short, it’s an excellent starting point for a tour of Bosnia.

Tour to Bosnia and Herzegovina

Our first stop is Gračanica Church. From here, you get the best panoramic view of Trebinje and its surroundings. The houses and bridges look like toys from above! Gračanica is a unique place. On service days, almost all residents of the city gather here.

Bosnia and Herzegovina Tour

The city of Trebinje itself is the pride of Bosnia. The famous poet, diplomat, and philanthropist Jovan Dučić (1871-1943) was born here. He loved his country very much, investing a lot of money in the development of his hometown. A street and a park are named after Dučić, and a monument has been erected. You can see his portrait on the national currency (50 marks). Towards the end of his life, Dučić bequeathed to be buried on the top of Crkvina Hill, in a new Orthodox church dedicated to the Most Holy Theotokos – Gračanica.

  • Bosnia and Herzegovina: Tvrdoš Monastery

Not far from Trebinje is one of the most significant Orthodox shrines in the Balkans. No tour to Bosnia is complete without visiting it. This is Tvrdoš Monastery. Some sources date its construction to the 4th century AD, others to the 13th-14th centuries. In any case, the history of the monastery is very ancient. Here, Vasilije Ostroški, the most revered saint in Serbian Orthodoxy, took his monastic vows.

Besides relics, the monastery is famous for its vineyards. The Vranac grape, the pride of the Balkan Peninsula, grows here. We’ll walk through the Tvrdoš vineyards. The abbot will tell you about the secrets of making local wine. You’ll have the opportunity to taste vintage Vranac wine from oak barrels. We recommend purchasing wines from 2012 and 2014. It was in these years that the monastery wine received two prestigious awards.

  • Bosnia and Herzegovina: Vjetrenica Cave

Now it’s time to get out your windbreakers, because we’re descending into the aptly named Vjetrenica Cave. The cave reaches a depth of 7 km, but only 400 m are equipped for tourists. Descending into the cave feels like stepping onto another planet. The majestic cave halls resemble the underground king’s domain from The Lord of the Rings. Whimsically shaped stalactites hang from the ceilings, and stalagmites reach up to meet them. We’ll descend to an underground lake, walk along a cave river, and try to decipher ancient rock carvings.

  • Bosnia and Herzegovina: Kravice Waterfall

Finally, our tour to Bosnia brings us to Kravice Waterfall! It’s known worldwide as the Balkan Niagara Falls. And you can’t argue with that, because it truly is paradise on Earth! Kravice is one of those places where you realize that nature is capable of creating true works of art. Swim in the crystal-clear water of the lake, take a boat ride, or simply enjoy a cup of coffee on the shore. Savor the scenery. People often come here for yoga or meditation, as it’s a true place of power. Here, nature appears before you in all its pristine splendor!

  • Bosnia and Herzegovina: Mostar

This beautiful city of bridges is the unofficial capital of historical Herzegovina. It simply cannot be excluded from a private tour of Bosnia. Despite its tragic past, the city has retained its Balkan generosity. Ancient mosques point their minarets to the sky. Orthodox churches ring their bells across the valley. Cobblestone streets, a bustling oriental market, and vibrant city life in the center – this is Mostar. And the iconic place that tourists flock to first is the Old Bridge. It’s considered a meeting point of Western and Eastern cultures. There’s a similar border in Sarajevo, but that’s another story. In Mostar, you’ll have plenty of free time for walks and shopping. Feel its spirit and atmosphere. Mostar is an amazing city!

  • Bosnia and Herzegovina: Blagaj

Another heavenly place that you simply must visit on a tour to Bosnia. Here, at the source of the Buna River, dervishes settled in the 16th century. Essentially, they were Muslim monks, followers of Sufism. They built a small monastery, which today operates as a museum. The abode is surrounded by a high sheer cliff, small waterfalls, and an emerald river. Such beauty truly takes your breath away! The water flows slowly, in sync with time. True peace and harmony reign here.

Blagaj

A private tour to Bosnia will definitely be one of the brightest impressions of your vacation in Montenegro. This is another pride of our travel club. Along with a tour to Albania and a tour to Lovćen, it’s among our guides’ top three favorite programs, because colorful medieval towns and extraordinary nature are harmoniously intertwined here. The program is ideal for romantic couples and families with children. Book your tour without prepayment and set off, dear friends!
