Grand Royal Tour: Rijeka Crnojevića and Skadar Lake
In the morning, at your convenience, we’ll meet at your hotel and first head to Skadar Lake, making a short stop in the town of Virpazar. Here you can buy interesting endemic souvenirs not found on the coast. In the past, this was the summer residence of the King of Zeta. From here, we begin our royal journey! We turn onto one of Montenegro’s most beautiful panoramic roads. The winding road snakes through the hills, periodically revealing magnificent views of Skadar Lake and the Rijeka Crnojevića.

Long ago, King Petar Njegoš used this road for business trips to Virpazar. In the town of Rijeka Crnojevića, he often stopped to rest at his residence. Here lies one of Montenegro’s most famous panoramic views – the bend of the Rijeka Crnojevića. You’ll find it on all promotional posters for group tours to Skadar Lake. Unfortunately, large bus tour routes don’t actually include a visit to this spot. We’ll make several stops for photo breaks. Optionally, you can take a boat trip on the river and Skadar Lake. In May and June, there’s a good chance to see Dalmatian pelicans!

Grand Royal Tour: Bogojević Winery
While resting at his residence in Rijeka Crnojevića, Petar Njegoš loved to drink red Vranac wine, grown in the plantations of the Zeta Valley. So, we’ll visit the Bogojević family’s wine gallery for a tasting. Incredibly, the Bogojević family’s winemaking traditions span several centuries. Their secrets are carefully passed down through generations, constantly improving. The Bogojević gallery itself is a very interesting art object. A visit to such a gallery will be interesting whether you love wine or not. And, of course, you’ll be able to taste each of the wines.

Grand Royal Tour: Cetinje
The historical center and spiritual capital of Montenegro has always been, and remains, the city of Cetinje, nestled in greenery and flowers. Its first mention dates back to 1482. During that period, Turkish conquerors forced the rulers of the state to seek a new place capable of providing protection from invaders. The foothills of Mount Lovćen sheltered the fugitives. As a result, the city began to develop actively. The Cetin River gave its name to the new capital. During this tour, we will pay special attention to the architecture and history of the city. Most of the attractions were built in the 18th century, which is why Cetinje is called a small mountain St. Petersburg.

We will visit all the main attractions of the city: Billiard Palace, King Nikola’s chambers, the “Blue Palace” residence, and the National Museum in Cetinje.

-
Grand Royal Tour: Cetinje Monastery
Cetinje Monastery is one of the country’s main holy sites. If you want to delve deeper into Montenegro’s spiritual life, we recommend our private tour of Montenegro’s sanctuaries. As part of this program, we will focus more on the architectural features and discuss the monastery’s history.

-
Grand Royal Tour: Njeguši Village
If Cetinje is the center of Montenegrin culture, then Njeguši is the spirit of Montenegrin traditions. This quiet village is nestled in a green valley surrounded by the mountains of Lovćen National Park. Njeguši village truly embodies hospitality. Friendly locals, relaxing on their verandas, are always happy to offer travelers rakija or honey liqueur. Owners of traditional konobas invite you to taste their dishes. But the main highlight of Njeguši is the famous Njeguši prosciutto. Literally everyone here is involved in making cured ham; every family has its own smokehouse. Each family also has its own secret prosciutto recipe. We’ll visit one of these smokehouses for a tasting of local delicacies.

-
Grand Royal Tour: Mount Lovćen
For many, a trip to Lovćen is the main goal when visiting Montenegro. It’s one of the three most romantic places in the country. The fantastic landscapes of green slopes and the panorama of the “Stone Sea of Montenegro,” combined with the azure sky, forever enchant everyone who visits. Newlyweds or couples in love are especially drawn here, as Lovćen is the perfect spot for a romantic photoshoot!

-
Grand Royal Tour: Njegoš Mausoleum
The Mausoleum of the great ruler, poet, philosopher, and bishop Petar Njegoš was built at cloud level, at an altitude of 1657 meters, for a reason. The proud ruler wished to be buried on the summit of Mount Lovćen. He wanted to admire the beauties of Montenegro, dear to his heart, even after death. Interestingly, a chapel was built here by locals during his lifetime. Later, it was replaced by the mausoleum.

Grand Royal Tour: Road of Kings
It earned this name because the rulers of Kotor used it to travel to receptions at Petar Njegoš’s palace in Cetinje. Legend has it that the engineer who designed the road was in love with a beautiful woman named Milena. As a gift to his beloved, he laid out one section of the road in the shape of a large letter M. But the main value of the Road of Kings is that it offers the most beautiful views of the Bay of Kotor fjord. Here you’ll feel like you’re on top of the world!

We often see people trying to describe Montenegro from just one perspective. Some say Montenegro is all about mountains and canyons. Others believe Montenegro is primarily the Adriatic Sea. Some might say Montenegro is a traditional country with no room for progress. Many years ago, we created this tour to show our dear guests how diverse and multifaceted Montenegro truly is. We want to show you cities with rich histories dating back to ancient Rome. We’ll introduce you to authentic villages that have preserved their traditional way of life to this day. You’ll witness the unimaginable nature of our mountains. The crystal clear waters of the Adriatic Sea will amaze you. You’ll understand how much variety this small country, Montenegro, combines!
